The association organised a brief inaugural meeting and scientific conference in April 1995. The latter, whose theme was “Current Advances in Research and Control of Insect Pests” covered four carefully selected papers presented by internationally reputable insect scientists, namely Dr. C.F. Curtis from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Prof. W.L. Kilama from the National Institute for Medical Research (Tanzania), Prof. H. Kayumbo from the University of Dar es Salaam and Dr. A. Materu former Director of Southern and Eastern Africa Red Locust Control Organisation.

The Second and Third Annual Scientific Conferences were held in Arusha and Zanzibar, respectively, in 1996 and 1997.

The Fourth Annual Scientific Conference with the theme “Challenges in Entomology in Africa in the 21st Century” was held at TPRI on 28 – 30 September 1999.

The Association now holds its Scientific Conferences on biennual basis. The Fifth Scientific Conference and Biannual General Meeting will be held in November 2001. The theme for the Fifth Scientific Conference will be:  Sustainable Pest Management and Environmental Conservation.
